The Lessons of Outbreaks and Pandemics
Infectious outbreaks and pandemics are an increasingly common global phenomenon. Outbreaks of even the past two decades share many catalysts and have generalizable lessons for clinicians and health care systems at large. While, seemingly unpredictable, pandemics are inevitable, and we must quickly learn how to minimize the risk of spread in populations and mitigate the impact on health through root cause appreciation, surveillance and detection, infection prevention and control; and, being research ready to establish effective preventative and therapeutic countermeasures. | |
At the end of this session, participants will be able to: 1) consider similarities and novel features of specific outbreaks and pandemics in recent history 2) gain an up-to-date awareness of the current clinical and therapeutic approach to COVID-19 |
