Patients who are repatriated to developed countries have the advantage of high level skilled care that is available in these countries.  Laboratory support in the care of these patients is critical and has a number of issues related to the safety of the clinical staff and the laboratory personnel.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

1)  discuss the levels of personal protective equipment for laboratory personnel
2)  understand the tests that are critical for the support of patients with Ebola virus disease
3)  discuss staffing for laboratory personnel in the care of patients with Ebola virus.

Colleen S. Kraft MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases.  She is the Medical Director of the Microbiology Section of Emory Medical Laboratories.  She served as an infectious diseases physician in the Serious Communicable Diseases Unit, and was a liaison to the clinical laboratory.
