Update to CACB Fellowship Pathway for Internationally Trained Candidates
The CACB Board has approved a motion to update the Fellowship requirements for non-Canadian trained candidates, effective 2026.
Under the new guidelines, internationally trained applicants will be required to successfully complete:
- The Written Clinical Biochemistry Exam
- The Written Analytical Biochemistry Exam
- The Oral Fellowship Exam
This change aims to reinforce the standardization and robustness of the Fellowship process, ensuring that all certified individuals meet the full scope of knowledge and competencies expected within Canadian clinical laboratories.
Important Note:
Candidates who apply before November 30, 2025, for the 2026 Oral Examination will proceed under the current pathway, which requires only the oral examination.
We encourage prospective candidates and mentors to review these changes and plan accordingly. For more information, please refer to the updated Fellowship section on the CACB website.
