TPAC Member at Large Role Description 2025

The CACB Training Program Accreditation Committee (TPAC) is to advise the CACB Board on matters relating to clinical biochemistry postdoctoral training programs in Canada. The goal of the committee is to ensure that the CACB establishes and maintains appropriate criteria and standards for training, and that postdoctoral training programs comply with these requirements.

As specified in the TPAC Terms of Reference, TPAC includes at minimum one and up to three CACB Member at Large positions. These individuals are CACB members in good standing with interest in contributing to the current activities of TPAC. These members are not to be current training program directors.

The Member at Large position is well suited to individuals involved in training or mentoring fellows, residents and/or other learners, and/or those with experience or expertise in medical education, pedagogy, curriculum design, and/or educational program assessment. Their role is to help diversify the views and perspectives shared within the wider Committee, and whenever possible, will be selected to maintain broad representation of clinical laboratories, universities and
geographical locations across Canada. They will be engaged to support the activities of TPAC, and provide an important perspective that is external to the role of training program directors.

Members at Large are expected to actively contribute to the activities of TPAC, including committee meetings, follow up of requested arising action items, and serving as assessors during site accreditation visits. It is expected that any committee member, including the Members at Large will lead sub-committee projects, gain experience with and understand the activities of TPAC and become more aware of TPAC’s scope and role within the CACB board.

Term of Office: In accordance with the TPAC Terms of Reference.
