Canadian Clinical Biochemistry Syllabus

The Canadian Clinical Biochemistry Syllabus Committee, composed of CACB fellows from across the country, has been working together since 2022 to draft an updated Canadian Clinical Biochemistry syllabus. The core team of 22 CACB fellows have worked to develop a syllabus that meets the following objectives:

  • Ensure that the syllabus reflects the roles, tasks, and competencies of a Clinical Biochemist
  • Describe tasks and responsibilities of a Clinical Biochemist to emphasize the need to integrate and apply knowledge
  • Categorize subject matter to clarify the depth of knowledge required for a Clinical Biochemist
  • Update syllabus content to reflect the current state of clinical biochemistry

The draft syllabus has been reviewed by Fellows in training, the CACB Examinations Committee, and the Training Program Advisory Committee. The French translation has been reviewed by a team of bilingual Clinical Biochemists.

At this time, we are soliciting feedback via email on the syllabus from the broader community of CACB fellows to ensure it reflects the breadth of practice in Canada.
