President’s Message:
Reflecting on a Year of Progress
and Looking Ahead
Submitted by Dr. Jennifer Shea, CSCC President
As we approach the end of the year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work we’ve accomplished together as a community and share some thoughts on what lies ahead for the CSCC.
This year, our annual scientific meeting was held jointly with the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) in Chicago. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with international colleagues, showcase Canadian expertise, and engage in rich scientific exchange. Thank you to all who participated and represented CSCC so well on the global stage.

We also hosted a CSCC Town Hall on October 29, where we shared updates on current initiatives including the recent salary survey, updates from our journal Clinical Biochemistry, and learned about the benefits of hiring a lobbyist to advance regulatory efforts. If you weren’t able to attend live, I encourage you to view the recording now available on the CSCC website.
Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to welcome you to Halifax for our Annual Conference, which will also mark the 70th anniversary of the CSCC. This milestone is a chance to celebrate our history, recognize the contributions of our members, and look forward to the future of clinical chemistry in Canada.

Throughout the year, CSCC Council has worked diligently to support our members and advance the goals of the society. I want to extend my sincere thanks to each Council member for their time, insight, and leadership. Your contributions are deeply appreciated.
I also want to recognize the incredible work of our Head Office team including Pamela Lyons, Valerie Olteanu, Erica Lattimore, and Max Howe. Their professionalism, responsiveness, and behind-the-scenes coordination are essential to everything we do. Thank you for keeping us organized, informed, and connected.
As we wrap up the year, I’m reminded of the strength of our community. Whether through conferences, committees, webinars, or informal conversations, CSCC members continue to demonstrate a deep commitment to excellence in laboratory medicine and to supporting one another. Thank you for your contributions, your leadership, and your support. I encourage you to stay engaged, share your ideas, and help shape the future of our profession.
Wishing you all a peaceful holiday season and a joyful start to the new year.
