ADLM 2025 is being held in partnership with the CSCC at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago on July 27-31. The Annual Meetings Organizing Committee (AMOC) includes three Canadian representatives: Dr. Ivan Blasutig (current member), Dr. Anna Füzéry (current member), and Dr. Curtis Oleschuk (past member).
As with previous meetings, ADLM 2025 consists of an Annual Scientific Meeting and a Clinical Lab Expo. Registration is now open, and you can register to access both the scientific meeting and expo or the expo only. CSCC members get a discount and should register before June 9th to get the best rate. Registration is open at https://meeting.myadlm.org/register. In addition, close to 175 Roundtables (1-hour interactive sessions for up to 10 participants) and 11 ADLM University workshops (3- or 6-hour interactive sessions for 30-50 participants) designed to provide small-group, interactive learning experiences will be held throughout the meeting. You can register for these at an extra cost while spaces remain available.
The meeting will begin with University Courses on July 27. This year’s courses will cover a wide variety of topics including:
- Fundamentals of:
- Complete blood counts
- Next generation sequencing
- Method evaluation and validation
- Guidance and practical skills for:
- LC-MS/MS
- POCT
- Protein electrophoresis and immunotyping interpretation
- Project management
- Errors in the total analytical process
- Essential communication skills for lab professionals
The scientific program, starting from the evening of July 27, is going to be exciting with topics that span clinical biochemistry, hematology, and microbiology,ensuring that everyone will find something of interest to them. Experts from around the globe will present, including many CSCC members. Each day will start off with a Plenary Session on a hot topic by a world-renowned speaker:
- July 27:Prof. Heidi L. Rehm the 2025 Wallace H. Coulter Lectureship Awardee will present “Advancing genomics through clinical and research strategies”
- July 28: Dr. Judy Wawira Gichoya will present “Artificial intelligence in real world clinical settings”
- July 29:Prof.Timothy Caulfield (from Edmonton, AB) will present “Infodemic! Is misinformation killing us?”
- July 30: Prof. Jack Gilbert will present “Precision microbiome medicine: Identifying diagnostics and treatments”
- July 31: Prof. Leonardo Trasande will present “The urgent threat of plastics to human health, and what we can do about it”
Plenary Sessions will be followed by more than 60 Scientific Sessions and 170 Roundtables led by CSCC or ADLM members. Canadian presenters include, but are notlimited to Drs. Berna Aslan, Lori Beach, Mary Kathryn Bohn,Jessica Boyd, Vincent de Guire,Lawrence de Koning, Lei Fu, Matthew Henderson, Daniel Holmes,Isolde Seiden Long, and Paul Yip.
The Clinical Lab Expo will be held from Tuesday, July 29 through Thursday, July 31 and consists of over 850 exhibitors showcasing their latest technologies and services for clinical laboratories and more. In addition, the Expo will include industry workshops and lectures, and will host over 800 scientific posters.
The poster hall will be open from July 29 through July 30 and will provide a wide collection of over 800 poster presentations. One of the main highlights is the ADLM Student Research Award Competition, which will take place on July 28. Student oral presentations, selected from submitted abstracts, are scheduled for 1:00-2:00 pm, while student poster judging will happen at 2:30-4:00 pm. Make sure to come out and support the Canadian clinical biochemistry trainees that will be participating in this competition!
Finally, the CSCC is planning two additional eventsfor Canadians:
On Monday, July 28, 2025, a Canadian Education and Networking Event will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place Hotel. It will begin with a presentation by Dr. Julie Shaw from 6:00 – 7:00 pm entitled: “Considerations for Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) Usage in Hospital Settings”. This session will cover a recently published CGM consensus document in Diabetes Care as part of a collaborative effort that included representatives from the CSCC, ADLM, American Diabetes Association and Diabetes Canada. The presentation will be followed by a social hour with light refreshments. All Canadian registrants are welcome to attend, whether they are a CSCC member or not. This will be a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues in a more intimate setting. Please help us spread the word about what will surely be a fantastic event!
On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, a Special Luncheon will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 pm for CSCC members only. During this time, CSCC and CACB Awards will be presented, and both the CSCC and CACB will host their Annual General Meetings.
